Praise for All The Great Aviators Agree:

"[Scotland Barr] serves up colorful boozy tunes... through his spirited (and varied) roots-rock sound, ably abetted by his trusty, talented band, the Slow Drags."

- Michael Berick, L.A. Weekly.

"Barr's stories, tunes and vocals would be more than enough to sustain a crackerjack solo act; that it's all backed up by a fluid, fluent combo boasting ace chops and tasty, well-placed harmony vocals makes for an embarrassment of riches... highlighted by Chris Hubbard's rippling-water piano flights and the deft guitar interplay between Zach Hinkelman's electric and Bryan Daste's pedal steel..."

- Jim Musser, No Depression.

"[Scotland Barr & The Slow Drags] mine roots music, mutating centuries of tradition with a modern sensibility much like the Band did - with a gravelly voiced singer and an ear for imagery. It's a heaping mound of Americana - tied together by a warts-and-all earnestness and Barr's knack for detail..."

- Ap Kryza, Willamette Week.

"With his gravelly voice and songs about hard luck and hangovers, [Barr's] transformed life's scrapes and scars into a mighty fine new album."

- Barbara Mitchell, Portland Tribune.

"World-weary, astute songs. The kind of CD you'll want in your player as you drive to Memphis."

- Rachel Taylor-Brown

"Move over Jacob Dylan, This clearly illustrates who is the heir to the Folk Rock throne."

- Tom Slot, Page Six

"These songs have got the universal truths covered in all ways, on all planes, in all galaxies, in every language known and otherwise. These songs are fantastic. The recording is fabulous too, but I am more caught up in the 'Call the station and find out who did that song' emotional response right now."

And last but not least, there is this gem from the Netherlands. Altavista's BabelFish helped us out with the translation. We can't quite tell, but we think they liked it. (By the way, we got 4 out of 4 galloping horses. Just for comparison's sake, check out how many they gave The Decemberists and Bob Dylan.)

Scotland Barr come from Portland, OR. In the nineties he is active in several link and as singer-songwriter. Beginning 2004 has he a new link at each other that listens to the splendid name The Slow Drags and those is formed Charley Adams (jet ear), Chris Hubbard (test), Eugene Nucci (bass) and Matt Nicely (drums). Beginning this year incorporates they, with rob Stroup behind the buds and with assistance of a keur to renowned session sessie-muzikanten, a first cd in 8 the Ball studio in Portland: Legionnaires Desease. Barr must could be influenced by a keur of country (Always Cherry), zestigerjaren (Sun Years) - and rootsmuziek (Count On me). He makes of it a fraaie mix without being able be accused of epigonisme. He sings with what dark, lived through sounding voice. Its songs concerns especially ambivalence and dubbelzinnigheid at the vrkomen of human emotions. Love, hope, dreams, hatred: they lie in each other's extension and are almost always at the same time present. If it is there, the other one is never far gone. In accordance with the link sounds: alternatively raw (Saving Grace and The Distance) and melodiously (1000 Roads). Especially this last number, concerning impossible in score a love, is a gem can love. Recommended for everyone who listens to Steve Earle, Jayhawks and Drive-by truckers and at least of the same klasse.(Peter Pleyte)
